Frills, florals and fringes are about to be in full-flow.

The internet’s obsession with boho-style fashion is back. Boho chic’s return to the runway during Isabel Marant’s PFW A/W 2024 show was the first glimpse of its return. This was followed by Chemena Kamali’s debut as Chloé’s creative director, where she ensured boho chic was back and better than ever. And now, the internet is all here for the return of ruffles and tassels.

The whole ‘boho aesthetic’ is about being free and freedom of expression, but ‘chic’ gives it an elegant edge. The frolicking fringes and frills capture this vibe perfectly, with free flowing skirts and dresses, paired with uniquely curated coats. At its core, boho chic is about mixing and matching diverse elements. A style that thrives on freedom and individuality, creating an effortless, yet thoughtfully curated look. A designer who is leading the boho chic trend, Isabel Marant, told Harper’s Bazaar “boho is about a woman who travels and picks things up along the way, mixing and matching”. This can be seen in the extravagant jewellery stacks and the playful, unique accessories that compliment these expressive looks.

Knee-high boots and wedges however, are certainly not a trend, they’re a staple. But the rise of suede boots and an obsession with any sandal that looks anything like the gorgeous Chloé black platform wedge sandals, worn by all VIP front-row guests at Kamali’s debut show, is all because of boho chic’s resurgance. We’ve also seen the hype around Balenciaga City bag recently, as the slouchy hobo bags are back in style. Suede bags are hitting the shelves too, as the obsession with this all-time favourite material continues through jackets, boots and skirts.

The mix of textures and materials used in boho fashion really adds that extra sense of individuality. Boho chic is all about creating a layered, textural look. Combinations such as a flowy dress paired with a chunky knit cardigan, or a patterned scarf worn over a crochet top are thriving online in recent times.

One of the best aspects of the boho chic style is its alignment with sustainable and ethical fashion. The emphasis on vintage clothing, artisanal pieces, and mixing of old and new allows you to create a unique and eco-conscious wardrobe. Boho chic continues to thrive because of its effortless charm, timeless appeal, and how it encourages to dress as individuals, something we don’t usually see in fashion trends.
